 Mood - Doom [1997]

A 1997 US underground hip-hop album from Cincinnati-based group Mood, Doom is the group’s debut studio release and a defining record of late-90s East Coast underground rap. The album is widely recognized for its connection to early careers of Talib Kweli and producer Hi-Tek, who helped shape its signature sound.
Mood – Doom (1997) features sample-based East Coast production with soulful loops, jazz-influenced textures, and hard boom-bap drums. The sound is rooted in classic New York–style underground hip-hop but carries a distinctive Cincinnati identity through its lyrical perspective and melodic sensibility.
Lyrically, the album focuses on street observation, social commentary, introspection, and philosophical themes. The MCs (Main Flow, Donte, Jahson) deliver technically sharp verses with a conscious tone, while guest appearances from Talib Kweli and Sunz of Man add to the album’s underground credibility.
Mood – Doom (1997) stands as a cult East Coast underground release and an important stepping stone in the early careers of several influential hip-hop artists.
