Hyenas In The Desert – Die Laughing is the only major release by the New York hip-hop group Hyenas In The Desert. The project was released through Chuck D’s Slam Jamz imprint and Columbia Records and was produced primarily by Gary G-Wiz, a member of the Bomb Squad. The group was centered around Long Island rapper Kendo, with additional contributions from Rahsaan and Studdah Man.The nine-track release opens with “Elephant Graveyard” and continues with “Can You Feel It,” “Wild Dogs,” “The Longest Night (Journal #1),” “Concubinez,” “Why Me,” “Fresh Meat,” “Hyenas In The Desert,” and “Other Side Of Midnight.” The complete program runs for approximately 25 minutes.Production is dominated by Gary G-Wiz, who also handled engineering and mixing on most of the project. G-Wiz was already known for his work with Public Enemy and the Bomb Squad, making his involvement one of the most notable aspects of the release.
