K-Rino – Stories From The Black Book is the debut studio album by Houston rapper K-Rino. It was released on April 13, 1993, through Electric City Records after being recorded at Papion Sound Studio and Maestro Studio in Houston, Texas. The album contains 17 tracks with a total running time of approximately 66 minutes.The project was produced primarily by K-Rino, with Egypt E credited for production on one track. The album features guest appearances from several Houston artists and members of the South Park Coalition, including Dope E, A.C. Chill, Ganksta N-I-P, Point Blank, Murder One, The Beholder, DBX, Greek, and K.O.The tracklist begins with “Intro” and “Step Into The Mind,” followed by “Tied In” and “Four Dimensions Of A Universe.” Other songs include “Never Give A Freak,” “Children Of The Concrete,” “Creator Of Life,” “The Basketball Song,” “Goin’ To Da Clinic,” “Death Of A Politician,” “You Created A Monsta,” “Cartoon Orgie,” “S.L.I.P.,” “Ultimate Flow,” “Choose Ya Weapon,” and “War In South Park.”Two tracks, “Cartoon Orgie” and “Tied In,” were released as singles. The album’s guest appearances are particularly concentrated on collaborative tracks such as “Four Dimensions Of A Universe,” “Choose Ya Weapon,” and “War In South Park,” bringing together several artists associated with Houston’s underground rap community.Stories From The Black Book marked the beginning of K-Rino’s solo recording career. In a later interview, K-Rino explained that he had previously been involved with the groups Real Chill and COD before starting Electric City Records with his father in 1992. The following year, the label released his first solo album, which achieved regional success and received radio play.The album was followed by Danger Zone in 1995 and became the first entry in a long discography that continued through subsequent decades.
