People Without Shoes & Inkswel – Plasma Platter (2020) is a cross-continental collaboration between Bronx underground lyricist People Without Shoes (TempOpmeT) and acclaimed Australian producer Inkswel (Julian Habib). Released by 5420 Records, the album unites New York's authentic boom-bap tradition with Inkswel's signature blend of jazz, soul, funk, and sample-driven production. The result is a refreshing underground hip-hop project that stays true to the culture while introducing a vibrant and organic musical direction.Produced entirely by Inkswel, the album is built around warm jazz loops, rich funk influences, soulful melodies, crisp drum breaks, and deep basslines that perfectly complement TempOpmeT's imaginative lyricism. Throughout the project, he delivers intricate rhyme schemes, clever wordplay, and vivid storytelling inspired by hip-hop culture, everyday life, and personal experiences. Tracks including "Peppermint," "Rap Romance," "Get Down," "BX," "Colors," and "Grown Ups" highlight the natural chemistry between producer and MC, while guest appearances remain minimal, allowing the collaboration itself to take center stage.Rather than relying solely on nostalgia, the album successfully blends classic East Coast boom-bap aesthetics with modern musical textures and live-sounding instrumentation. Inkswel's polished production gives the record a distinctive identity without overshadowing TempOpmeT's commanding performances, creating an album that appeals equally to longtime boom-bap enthusiasts and listeners searching for fresh underground hip-hop. Its cohesive sound, thoughtful songwriting, and creative production make it one of the strongest releases in People Without Shoes' modern catalog.Today, People Without Shoes & Inkswel – Plasma Platter (2020) stands as an outstanding underground hip-hop collaboration, celebrated for its soulful production, exceptional lyricism, and its successful fusion of Australian beat-making with authentic East Coast rap.
