Seagram – Souls On Ice (1997) is the third and final studio album by Oakland rapper Seagram, released posthumously one year after his tragic death in 1996. Issued by Rap-A-Lot, Noo Trybe, and Virgin Records, the album serves as both a tribute to one of the Bay Area's most respected MCs and a powerful conclusion to his influential career. Featuring guest appearances from Scarface, Spice 1, and Yukmouth, the record preserves Seagram's unmistakable style while highlighting the respect he earned across both the West Coast and the South. The production, handled by Mike Dean, Tone Capone, and Terry T, blends dark G-funk melodies, heavy basslines, and polished West Coast grooves with the gritty atmosphere that defined Seagram's music. Throughout the album, his calm yet commanding delivery brings to life stories of survival, loyalty, street politics, and the realities of growing up in Oakland. Rather than relying on commercial formulas, the project remains deeply rooted in authentic Bay Area gangsta rap, balancing reflective moments with hard-hitting street anthems.Despite being completed under difficult circumstances, the album received positive reviews for its honest lyricism and emotional weight. Songs such as "Sleepin In My Nikes," "If The World Was Mine," and "Don't Stop" became standout tracks, while the record reached the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, further cementing Seagram's legacy.Today, Seagram – Souls On Ice (1997) is regarded as an essential Bay Area rap album, remembered for its powerful storytelling, timeless West Coast production, and as a fitting farewell to one of Oakland's most respected hip-hop artists.
