Oz & Vz – Ecoute Mes Images Avant De Voir Mon Son (2006) is an underground French hip-hop album from the duo Oz & Vz (Ass Ose & Vise), released during a period when independent rap in France continued to thrive beyond the mainstream. Built on thoughtful songwriting, sample-driven production, and a strong emphasis on lyricism, the album reflects the creative freedom that defined the country's underground scene in the mid-2000s. Rather than following commercial trends, the duo crafts a personal and atmospheric project rooted in authentic hip-hop values. The production combines warm soul and jazz samples, melodic loops, solid drum programming, and understated basslines that create a smooth yet immersive soundscape. Oz & Vz complement these instrumentals with introspective rhymes, poetic imagery, and reflective storytelling, exploring themes such as identity, everyday life, personal experiences, and artistic expression. Their chemistry gives the album a natural flow, balancing technical lyricism with accessible songwriting while preserving the raw spirit of independent French rap.Although the release remained largely under the radar, it has earned appreciation among collectors and fans of underground Francophone hip-hop. Its cohesive production, thoughtful writing, and timeless boom-bap influences make it an enjoyable listen for anyone interested in discovering lesser-known French rap projects from the 2000s. The album stands as a reminder of the creativity that flourished outside the major labels, where originality and substance were often valued above commercial success.Today, Oz & Vz – Ecoute Mes Images Avant De Voir Mon Son (2006) remains a respected French underground hip-hop release, appreciated for its soulful production, introspective lyricism, and its contribution to the independent Francophone rap scene.
