People Without Shoes – Selective Ingreenients (2024) is another outstanding release from Bronx underground veteran People Without Shoes (TempOpmeT), continuing his long-running commitment to authentic East Coast hip-hop. Released through 5420 Records, the album builds upon decades of underground experience while embracing a fresh yet unmistakably classic boom-bap sound. Staying true to his artistic vision, TempOpmeT delivers thoughtful lyricism over soulful, sample-driven production, proving once again why he remains one of New York's most respected independent MCs.
The production is rooted in warm jazz and soul samples, crisp drum breaks, deep basslines, and carefully layered melodies that create a timeless listening experience. TempOpmeT's unmistakable delivery combines intricate rhyme patterns, clever wordplay, and vivid storytelling inspired by hip-hop culture, everyday life, perseverance, and personal reflection. Rather than relying on nostalgia, the album presents classic boom-bap through a modern lens, maintaining the raw energy and originality that have defined his music since the 1990s. Every track reflects a passion for authentic craftsmanship and lyrical excellence.Throughout the project, People Without Shoes continues to celebrate the values of underground hip-hop: originality, creativity, and substance over commercial appeal. The cohesive production and focused songwriting make the album equally rewarding for longtime supporters and newcomers discovering TempOpmeT's catalog for the first time. Like his previous releases, the project reinforces his reputation as an artist dedicated to preserving the spirit of New York's underground scene while continuing to evolve creatively.
