Aztlan Nation – Beaner Go Home is the debut release from Berkeley, California group Aztlan Nation, an important early example of politically conscious Chicano hip-hop from the Bay Area. The group was formed in 1989 and built its music around Chicano identity, social issues, racism, immigration, police brutality, and the realities facing Latino communities in California.The production combines hardcore hip-hop with funky Bay Area rhythms, heavy basslines, programmed drums, samples, and atmospheric textures. Aztlan Nation and producer Nick Peace create a raw independent sound that reflects the early-1990s West Coast underground while giving the record a strong political identity.
