JT The Bigga Figga – Operation Takeover is a 1996 San Francisco gangsta rap album and one of the key independent releases from JT The Bigga Figga’s Get Low era. Originally issued on a small scale through Get Low Recordz, the project captures the raw, street-oriented sound of mid-1990s Bay Area hip-hop. It was later reissued commercially in 2000.

The album is rooted in West Coast rap, gangsta rap and hardcore hip-hop, with JT The Bigga Figga handling the production. The sound combines heavy drums, bass-driven grooves and the stripped-down character of independent San Francisco rap. The record has a stronger gangsta orientation than some of JT’s earlier material, while retaining the collaborative spirit of the Get Low movement.
Operation Takeover contains 12 tracks. Later commercial editions use a slightly different sequence and include “Hidden Secrets.”
The guest appearances demonstrate JT’s close connection with the Bay Area underground. San Quinn appears on “Extreme Danger,” “We Bout 2 Ball” and “On The Daily,” while Messy Marv contributes to “Northern Cali.” Tha Gamblaz appear on “Filthy Surroundings,” and other Get Low affiliates contribute to several tracks.
The album’s regional identity is especially strong. “Northern Cali” directly emphasizes JT’s connection to Northern California, while the Get Low affiliations throughout the record create the feeling of a collective rather than a conventional solo project. This collaborative approach became one of the defining characteristics of JT’s independent catalog.
The darker material is balanced by the funk-influenced West Coast production typical of the period. The combination of gangsta themes, low-end-heavy beats and relaxed Bay Area grooves makes the record a strong representation of mid-1990s San Francisco underground rap.
