MVP – C.L.O.U.T is a 1995 Memphis gangsta rap album from MVP, a member of the Monsta Klick collective from South Memphis, Tennessee. Released through Pure Erb Records, the project is an important example of the raw underground Memphis sound of the mid-1990s.
MVP’s music belongs to the darker side of Southern hip-hop, combining hard drum programming, heavy bass and sinister Memphis production with direct street-oriented lyrics. The album reflects the independent cassette and CD culture that helped Memphis develop one of the most distinctive regional styles in American rap during the 1990s.
C.L.O.U.T contains 15 tracks and features several important names from the Memphis underground, including Indo G, Kingpin Skinny Pimp, Lil Gin and Nasty Nardo.
