Q-Unique - Vengeance is Mine

Q-Unique – Vengeance Is Mine is the 2004 solo debut from New York underground MC Q-Unique, released through Uncle Howie Records. Best known as a member of The Arsonists, Q-Unique delivers a dark and uncompromising hip-hop record built around hardcore lyricism, rugged production and the grim atmosphere of the early-2000s underground scene. The album was released on October 19, 2004, with a total running time of roughly 49 minutes.
The project represents an important stage in Q-Unique’s career, moving beyond his work with The Arsonists and establishing his individual identity as a solo artist. The production and lyrical approach remain firmly rooted in underground hip-hop, emphasizing dense rhymes, aggressive delivery, dark themes and stripped-down beats rather than commercial polish.
The guest appearances connect Q-Unique with some of the most respected names in New York’s underground hardcore rap movement. “H to the C” features Swel 79 and E-Dot, while “Canarsie Artie’s Revenge” brings together Goretex, ILL BILL and Necro. These collaborations reinforce the record’s connection to the Uncle Howie and Non Phixion-associated underground network.
Musically, the album favors dark samples, hard drums and a gritty boom-bap foundation. Q-Unique’s writing is introspective as well as confrontational, moving between personal experiences, psychological tension, street imagery and observations about the darker sides of life.
The album was recorded independently, with the recording information famously listing Q-Unique’s own living room as the recording location. This reinforces the project’s raw, independent character and its distance from mainstream studio production.
For collectors of underground hip-hop, hardcore rap and classic New York boom-bap, Q-Unique – Vengeance Is Mine is an essential solo release. It combines uncompromising lyricism, dark production and a formidable lineup of underground MCs, making it a strong representation of the independent New York rap scene of the early 2000s.
