Hardkore & Âme – Chroniques de Conscience is the first full-length album by the French underground hip-hop duo Hardkore & Âme, formed by Skeez and Korias, members of the Paris Vice crew. The project followed two retrospective mixtape-style releases, Trafic neurologique Vol.1 and Vol.2, which collected recordings made between 2002 and 2008 and prepared the ground for the duo’s debut album.The duo developed within the independent Parisian rap scene and built their reputation through underground performances and collaborations. Their music is rooted in the traditional French hip-hop aesthetic, with an emphasis on dense lyricism, dark atmospheres and socially conscious themes. The album continues the uncompromising approach established on their earlier projects.Chroniques de Conscience contains 15 tracks and runs for approximately 66 minutes. The project brings together numerous collaborators from the French underground, including members of Paris Vice Crew, 16AR, Aboo, Akacha, Nex, Osi, Tallo Jah, Djade, Dad and Webbafied.The album’s lyrical direction is particularly important to its identity. Hardkore & Âme address social and political questions, personal struggles, alienation, frustration and the contradictions of contemporary society. The writing is direct and confrontational while maintaining an introspective dimension, giving the project the character of conscious underground rap rather than commercial hip-hop.The production combines sample-based beats with darker and atmospheric textures. The album also demonstrates the duo’s interest in incorporating elements from outside conventional hip-hop. For example, one of the compositions uses a sample from Lebanese singer Fairuz, adding a distinctive melodic element to the record.The project’s collaborative character reflects its connection with the Paris Vice network.
