The project was released through Full Moon Records and is presented as a mixtape rather than a conventional studio album. It contains 19 tracks with a total running time of approximately 70 minutes, giving the release an expansive format typical of independent French hip-hop projects from the early 2000s.Sans Frontières followed the first solo album by L.I.K, J’représente l’art de rue, and marked the transition toward a fully collective Sixième Sens project. The group had emerged from the regional rap scene between Angers and Tours, developing outside the dominant Parisian hip-hop environment.The music is rooted in traditional French underground rap, with the emphasis placed on MC performances, DJ culture and lyrical expression. The three rappers bring different flows and personalities to the project while maintaining a coherent group identity. The production provides a classic hip-hop foundation for their writing and allows the vocals to remain at the center of the record.Thematically, the project moves between personal experiences, social observation, neighborhood life and reflections on identity and relationships. The serious and sometimes introspective tone reflects the approach that would become characteristic of Sixième Sens throughout its subsequent discography.The release also demonstrates the group’s ambition to establish itself beyond its home region. After Sans Frontières, Sixième Sens continued performing extensively and followed the project with On Pense À Vous, before releasing Herbes de Province. Their later work would place an even stronger emphasis on the identity of provincial French rap and collaboration between regional scenes.The original release is documented with 19 tracks, including instrumental and interlude material, and was issued under the Full Moon Records name.
