Salif – Curriculum Vital is the fourth solo studio album by French rapper Salif, a major figure of the Boulogne-Billancourt hip-hop scene and former member of Nysay and IV My People. Released through AZ and Universal Music, the album marked a return to the spotlight and became the most commercially successful release of his career, reaching No. 9 on the French Albums Chart.Following Prolongations, the album takes a more personal and autobiographical direction. Salif draws heavily on his upbringing in the Pont de Sèvres area of Boulogne-Billancourt, examining his experiences, choices, relationships, ambitions, regrets and the difficult realities surrounding life in the suburbs. The project was deliberately conceived without guest rappers, keeping the focus on Salif’s own story and perspective.The title Curriculum Vital plays on the expression “curriculum vitae,” transforming it into a reference to a life course rather than a conventional professional résumé. This idea runs throughout the record, with Salif reflecting on his childhood, education, street life, family and the decisions that shaped his path as an artist.Musically, the album combines French street rap with atmospheric production, synthesizers, guitars and influences that occasionally reach toward West Coast and Dirty South sounds. The production was handled by several contributors, including Blastar, J-Fase, Wealstarr, Canardo, Kilogrammes Prod and others, creating a varied backdrop for Salif’s direct delivery.The album contains 18 tracks and runs for approximately 78 minutes. Unlike a conventional collection of disconnected street-rap songs, the project maintains a strong autobiographical thread, with Salif repeatedly returning to his neighborhood, family, social environment and personal history.Critics have subsequently highlighted Curriculum Vital as one of the most revealing records in Salif’s discography, emphasizing its introspection, dark atmosphere, storytelling and uncompromising portrayal of everyday life in Boulogne.
